A year Summary

Well another year has passed (thank f2@k!) and I have welcomed the new year with sheer and utter desperation lol. Is it just me or was last year pretty bad?? I cant be the only one out there drowning in the sea of life.

We did have some great highlights though.
Halloween is a favourite in our family

This year was my daughters first year in an afterschool activity (PHYSIE)

I got the best mothers day treat...... Daddy took kids and disappeared for the day lol I know it sounds selfish but I enjoyed it that much I don't care how your looking down your noses at me lol..... I had the WHOLE house to myself....... a QUIET, PEACEFUL house.... and it was all mine for a few hours...... JUST PURE & UTTER BLISS lol. The kids thought it was a great mothers day too .... they went to the Mueseum, Science Mueseum & Southbank. I think deep down they were pleased to go somewhere with out me too lol

There were trips to the Gold Coast for Ripley's Believe it or not Odditorium and Dracs Haunted house https://draculas.com.au/haunted-house ,

Southbank to watch the Riverfire festival fire works http://www.brisbanefestivalarchive.com.au/events/view/sunsuper-riverfire ,

 2 trips to seaworld http://seaworld.com.au/

& we had the absolute pleasure of being apart of the bridal part of my two high school besties.

My son, who just happens to be growing up too soon, finished primary school this year. I was a blubbering mess at his graduation. He was not impressed lol

Not to mention getting to enjoy Christmas with some wonderful friends and their 7 children who all came to stay with us :) good food, good people, good games and lots of laughs.

...hhhmmm..... wait a minute.... why am I glad the year is gone??? Here I was thinking I'm lucky its over and yet, now after writing my blog.... I want it back!!! What an awesome year!!!! Lets see if we can top it.

Organising Bender

So the last couple of months have been super hectice, and today I finally got a little time to do something I love. ORGANISE!!!! I know..... I don't have a life.

I did a big overhaul in the kitchen, threw out massive amounts of food no realised it was obviously a big problem and tried to think...... How can I have this much food, have it easily accessible, unpack easily, easy to access but not too complicated.

There were two particular cupboards I paid attention too, just because they were a nightmare to find anything..... So much that we never used ANYTHING in those cupboards lol it was like the plague. Even the kids would never use it.

I have a cupboard beside the fridge that always manages to get messy within hours if being sorted. Y??? Y are there places in the house that are like that!!! It's completely infuriating.

First point of madness..... Batteries. Ugh. Seriously. We have spend years trying to keep them organised and it never worked for long...but I think I've found the answer :)
I bought these tackle boxes from Kmart on the cheap. A couple of labels later and ta da!!!!!

Another problem with batteries is what to do with the dead ones. The kids would leave them on the shelf beside the new ones and my daughter is a big environmentalis which means no throwing in the trash but having to make a special trip to have them disposed of properly.....*sigh and roll eyes* ..... I had been using a plastic bag but that just seemed to spread itself about somehow .... Then .... Bammmm!!!!! Brain spike...... I decided to repurpose some empty disinfectant wipe containers that I had :)

Next point of misery - medicines. Whenever someone is sick, they just never hade the energy to put things back neatly and they were all jumbled and you could never see what you had and what u were running low on. I also needed to find a solution that was potable so it could be carted from room to room when multiple family members are sick (horror). So off to the $2 store and came up with this :)
It has dividers in each drawe and the top lifts up to reveal more pockets where I can keep prescriptions and instructions with the medicine - genius - I was always loosing prescriptions and doctors notes...... Not anymore - yay

Next was the fridge..... I could of died when I realised I had to throw out over $100 in food! $100!!!! It was more then that but I couldn't bring myself to keep counting after I hit $100 for fear or a heart attack. There was no way I was letting that happen again! Problem one was the kids. They can never seem to find anything to eat and complain that there is nothing....but after today's discovery of plenty of food I realised they just couldn't see it. It was like having a 'man look'. You know.... When a guy opens a drawer ranting and raving cause he can't find the can opener only to stare blankly at you in disbelief when I walk past a grab it in two seconds lol. So I designated a drawer to each child. That way they have no need to go anywhere else in the fridge except for butter and milk. And I fill it for a week. That way, if they guts the fruit bars, then if forces them to have a yoghurt LOL yes!!! Mummy=1 : Kids=0

Next on the agenda where containers and labels. That way I could stack items and use fill the space better but I could easily keep sections separate lik raw meat etc, which is particularly handy if it leaks as you only need to clean the container. This would even make having leftovers easier cause you just need to go straight to that particular container instead of searching the entire fridge. :)

So that's my tackling attempt today :)

C ya

Neat & Tidy Challenge - July - After

Well it's the end of the month and its time to show off how much of a difference a little organising can do.
I own an SUV and the kids teat it like a trash can.... Then again.... My front area doesn't look much better either lol
So, last post you say the before and taaaddddaaaaaaaa......

So we are starting from the back.
Full too kit, First Aid Kit and my Boot Bag

Loving the boot bag - it's holding spare clothes, jackets, kids activity packs, pink picnic pack, leather wipes, emergency blankets, glass wipes, umbrellas, ponchos and a torch.

The Pink Pack has been long awaited with all cutlery, bowls, plates, chopsticks, toothpicks, straws and tea and coffee supplies

SECOND ROW gets so much better then the before photos in the last blog post lol
I went to Howard's Storage World and went crazy!!!!!! And I grabbed a couple of wardrobe organisers! Took out the hangers and altered the length and Presto!!!! Hand sanitisers, tissues, lip balms, nail clippers, hair brush and accessories :) as I figure out what else we need ill full in the rest of the pockets. But I must say the kids are loving it! Who would of thought they would enjoy them so much!!!! HAHAHAHAHA Mum=1 KIDS=0
Since my kids are the biggest offenders when it comes to rubbish, I repurposed an empty wipes container with a bag inside to use as a rubbish bin for them :) and it fits perfectly in the door :)
So the front was a little harder. As I do so many things that I just end up with a pile of receipts and paper drowning me out. So I got a purple plastic slip and all the paper goes in there and gets stored between seats. Now my lovely Volvo, yes..... I drive a Volvo....... And no....... I don't wear a paper bag.
Anyway, back to my Volvo, it has headphone ports where the others can listen to radios or CDs while I'm listening to something else ..... But in all the years I have owned my lovely car, I have never gotten around to putting in the headphones lol so they are finally in along with all other car chargers and the GPS in the bottom on the console.

In the top of the console are pens for on the spur of the moment notes for kids or labelling items cause they always leave everything to the last minute....... And some lipbalm...... No girl can have enough balm :)

Glove box is having a fabulous time with my out bin, wet wipes for grubby kiddy fingers, brush, deodorant (cause you always end up remembering when u already have left lol) and a letter pack - which contains, envelopes, cards, paper, notebook and sticky notes - which comes in very handy.

I don't have photos of the next thing, but I think it's a must for any mummy out there - write up on a computer, a draft note. Have, "To whom it may concern, please" and then a bunch of vacant lines before ending with "Any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me on................ regards, " and put these notes within easy reach. I staple them so I can just pull off one when I need it and they sit on a ledge above the steering wheel. Cause I don't know how many times we are late from traffic or the kids tell me they were supposed to hand in an excursion form due that day, and it's so quick to just fill in the blanks as needed.

And there we have it :) one very organised and stress free mummy !!!!

Sidetracked

Today was a good day. :) a naughty day but a good day. I was supposed to be accounting and doing the books today and I got so sidetracked it was dinner time and I hadn't even started in the office lol

I went to Howard's Storage World today and used some vouchers up. I have never been to Howard's before and I must say it was FABULOUS!!!!!!! I wanted to buy ssssoooooo much, but I was able to maintain some control and composure of myself and bought a few shoe holders, soda can dispenser and a few more tubs for my frigde.

I told myself that when I got home, I would not unpack the bag until I did my bookwork.......LIES!!!! LIES!!!! LIES!!!! ALL LIES!!! And what's worse I believed myself until I got home lol. The bag didn't even make it inside before I was violently ripping open the packaging LOL

AND THEN

OMG I WAS POSSESSED!!!!

I altered and installed 3 shoe organisers onto the back of my car seats all with matching and co-ordinating purple ribbons. And just like some sick addict, it felt GOOD. But it wasn't enough. I needed another hit.

Upstairs I went.

Totally cleaned the fridge and completely rearranged everything into the boxes. OMG - I have never seen so much room in my fridge before! I threw the can dispenser into the pantry and last but not least I took the last shoe organiser to the laundry and hung it on the back if the door for all the mending equipment and labels.

Then I spent the last half hour doing a little of the car challenge from the Neat and Tidy Challenge from Beautifully organised.

Well that's me :) I had an absolute fabulous day :D

Neat & Tidy Challenge - July - Before

July - always a busy month. I have end of financial year for all my accounts, school holidays and my sons Birthday. SO I was really delighted to find this months challenge is the CAR!!!!!! Granted my car looks like a war zone but its not as large as a whole room so I am very happy and excited.

So first thing first .... As usual......... I have to completely embarrass myself publicly. Yay for me.... NOT!

Front row is my junk zone. It even has my knitting in the cup holder LOL my kids take forever to get to the car after school and I'm that bored I knit LOL

Now the second row - my god! I had no idea what it looked liked lol it's the kids area and I'm just focussing on running them to and from their activities, so when I opened the door to take this pic ...... Lets just say...... I was more then mortified. And upon remembering I had to share the pic.... Well..... I was ready to die!!!!

The boot - well I don't have much to say. I don't really know why it's so dirty and muddy. I only put groceries in there LOL

Stay tuned my lovelies because at the end of the month ill be showing on sexilicious beast of a Volvo!!!!!!
